Youth:
The MBPC youth program offers several opportunities to support young people in their educational and personal growth:
Adrienne Adams Scholarship Program: This program provides scholarship funds to high school graduates who are pursuing college or trade school education. The scholarships can help cover tuition, fees, and other expenses associated with higher education.
Campership to Camp Westminster: Each year, the MBPC youth program offers a free, one-week camp experience at Camp Westminster for students in grades 3 through 12. This opportunity allows young people to enjoy a fun and enriching outdoor experience while building friendships and developing valuable life skills.
Triennium Sponsorship: Every other year, the MBPC youth program sponsors Presbyterian youth to attend the Triennium event. This large-scale gathering brings together thousands of young Presbyterians from across the country for a week of worship, learning, fellowship, and service.
These programs demonstrate the MBPC youth program’s commitment to supporting young people in their educational pursuits, personal growth, and faith development. By providing financial assistance, enriching experiences, and opportunities for spiritual connection, the MBPC youth program is making a positive impact on the lives of young people in the community.
Michigan Black Presbyterian Caucus (MBPC) Churches:
The MBPC member churches provide a variety of programs and services to support their communities and promote spiritual growth:
Financial Support for Vacation Bible Schools: Each year, member churches receive funding to help cover the costs of running Vacation Bible Schools (VBS). These VBS programs provide a fun and engaging way for children to learn about the Bible and Christian faith during the summer months.
Cultural Celebrations: The churches host annual celebrations for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Kwanzaa, honoring the important contributions of these cultural events and promoting diversity and inclusion within the community.
Michigan Black Presbyterian Caucus (MBPC) Annual Picnic: The MBPC annual picnic is a fun and festive event that brings together members from all of the member churches for a day of food, fellowship, and outdoor activities.
Church Workshops and Community Outreach: The churches offer a variety of workshops and programs on topics such as spiritual growth, leadership development, and social justice. They also actively engage with the community through outreach programs designed to welcome and invite new members.
Mentorship Program for Aspiring Pastors and Elders: Recognizing the importance of strong leadership within the church, the MBPC has developed a mentorship program for individuals who are interested in becoming pastors or commissioned ruling elders. This program pairs aspiring leaders with retired pastors who can provide guidance, support, and resources to help them prepare for their exams and future roles in the church.
